How does Cloud Browse work?
Cloud Browse runs a remote firefox browser and streams data to iPhone, iPod and iPad. The remote browser have access to higher bandwidth, more memory and faster processor than that of any mobile device. This saves power at mobile device.
Apple has finally approved a web browser having almost very similar functionality as Safari. It is fast and cost effective. Opera mini browser compresses data up to 90% before sending it to iPhone, so page loads are lightening fast. It can synchronizes data between computer and iPhone.
Some great features of Opera mini:
Speed dial gets your favorite websites with a single tap.
An address field with auto-completion means you type less.
Tabs allow for multitasking with several web pages.
iPhone users may get a choice now while surfing the internet. Opera has developed mini browser for iPhone. The browser is fast enough to impress anyone. The reason behind it’s performance is the proxy architecture. Whenever you request any URL using Opera mini, request will be send to Opera servers and then opera servers will download a page for you and compress the page up to 90%. After compression, page is transfered to iPhone in custom binary format. This binary format will be rendered by opera browser.
Advantage of Opera mini over Safari
1. Browser is fast as most of the processing is done by Opera servers.
2. Data is compressed up to 90%. This will reduce data usage bill.
3. Scrolling throw the page is smooth regardless the size of the page.
4. It can increase your battery backup little bit while browsing.
I hope that Apple will play a fare game in approving Opera Mini.
Opera developed a web browser for iPhone long time ago and apple rejected it at that time. Now Apple announced that it will allow 3rd party web browser in App store. Is this a change in apple’s thinking? Are Apple’s in house applications ready to face the external world? Try out the flowing browser and may be that you get a hint.
• Edge Browser (Free) – No loss of screen real estate to the address or navigation bars.
• WebMate: Tabbed Browser ($0.99) – Web Mate simplifies browsing by queuing up all the links you click on, then allowing you to view them one by one when you’re ready.
• Incognito ($1.99) – Now you can browse without leaving a history of any kind.
• Shaking Web ($1.99) – adds a sophisticated algorithm to compensate for small hand shaking to allow for easier reading.
This is really a major change in Apple’s approval policy. What will be the future of iPhone App store? [Open for All app ]
You can play videos (flv) in safari now. There is iMobileCinema plugin available which can help you play flash (flv format) videos in safari. I think this is something which we all have been waiting for. Follow below steps to integrate the plugin in your browser:
1. First you need to have 2.x ver of firmware.
2. Add source d.imobilecinema.com in Cydia.
3. Install iMobileCinema application from Multimedia section in Cydia.
4. It is advisable to restart your mobile after installation is complete.
Your mobile is ready for playing videos in safari now. You can test it by opening any video which is marked playable (marked with play sign) in youtube site. Thank you.
You say where is the nearest PizzaHut and it gives you search results on browser window. so cool… isn’t it.
Sound is converted into text file through voice recognition software and sent to google search engine. The application is expected soon on App Store. It is controversial though that they are launching it first on iPhone and not Google android phone.
PDANet from June Fabrics is very popular in windows based mobiles. It allows you to turn your smart phone into Wi-Fi router for your laptop. It is now available for iPhone.
Unlike other software like iPhoneModem, NetShare that tether your iPhone through SOCKS proxy solution, PDANet is true Wi-Fi router. This works seamlessly as if you are connected to a Wi-Fi router. You can share internet to as many terminals you want. You don’t need to configure any settings in your browser or you don’t require specifying any IP address. This is simply another Wi-Fi router.
The only negative point in this app is that you need to jailbreak your iPhone.
Finally, we’ll get to see flash player for iPhone. It means that we can watch YouTube video directly on the browser. Apple has recently provided (upgrade 2.1) a hack to run flash in the browser.
Sr. Director of Engineering at Adobe Systems Paul Betlem for the first time publicly confirmed that Adobe is developing a Flash Player for Apple’s iPhone. He noted that Apple makes all the decision. If Apple says yes to Flash player then Adobe will have the player available in a very short time.
This is very cool software for people who always need something to read when they think they are idle. You can store variety of documents, PDFs etc and view it in this software. One differentiating thing I found with this software is that it opens documents in your internet browser so you can rotate your phone horizontally and readability improves automatically.
To install Docs, you can search Docs either in Cydia or in Installer, whichever you like. And then install it.
New iPhone software upgrade 2.2 will be rolled out as soon as it becomes stable. In this upgrade
1. Push e-mail to iPhone or iPod touch will be restored.
2. This upgrade will also improve on GPS functionalities.
3. We’ll see new Safari browser having search beside the address bar and it will be always visible.
I wish that we can have Copy and Paste functionality in coming upgrades. I don’t think this is difficult to implement, but still we haven’t have this important feature in it.
There will be some existing bug fixes. I don’t have exact detail as of now. I’ll write it here again as soon as I get some thing new.
