iPhone 4 has been jailbroken by Comex, of popular jailbreaking tool, Spirit jailbreak for iPhone OS 3.1.3, iPhone OS 3.1.2 has discovered another userland jailbreak in iOS 4.
Think I’m the first one I know about to get a root shell (and SSH) on iPhone 4, using poor @comex’s code (since he has no iPhone 4) – Twitter status
This is now confirmed by MuscleNerd, member of iPhone-Dev Team.
Congrats to @comex for another userland JB http://is.gd/d5N6I <– hi-res Cydia via @planetbeing & @chpwn iPhone4s - Twitter status
SHSH blobs is digital signature signed on firmware which is unique for each iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Whenever we try to upgrade or restore a firmware on any if iDevice, ECID (Exclusive Chip ID) is passed to Apple servers to generate signature. Without signature, iTunes simply will not proceed to restore. As soon as Apple release a new version of OS, Apple stops signing older version of iOS, hence making it almost impossible to restore iDevice to older firmware.
SHSH blob is also verified at the time of boot of an iDevice, which ensures that iOS is not corrupt or hacked. In case if you are using jailbroken iPhone, iPod, or iPad, you must save SHSH blob so that you can downgrade your iDevice whenever needed.
Using TinyUmbrella (Windows)
1. Download TinyUmbrella from http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com
2. Connect iPhone, iPod or iPad to the system
3. Open downloaded exe (umbrella-4.00.22.exe)
4. You’ll see your device listed on the umbrella window.
5. Start TSS server and click on Save My SHSH
6. That is it. Your SHSH will be saved to Saurik’s Server
Note: Mac users can download Mac version and follow the steps.
Its been heard that iPhone 4G is having some issues with antenna design. If you recall from the keynote, that’s where the Bluetooth / WiFi / GPS antenna meets its GSM / UMTS counterpart.
One iPhone 4 demonstrated the issue everytime it was held in our left hand (as a right-handed person is apt to do) so that our palm was essentially bridging the two antennas. If we had to guess, we’d say that our conductive skin was acting to detune the antenna — in fact, we’ve already managed to slowly kill two calls that way so it’s not just an issue with the software erroneously reporting an incorrect signal strength.
That said, we had no issues when Apple’s $29 rubber bumper accessory (given to us free for standing in line) was attached, creating a buffer between our palm and the antennas. Our second UK-purchased iPhone 4 was fine, showing none of these handling symptoms.
Own a hacktivated iPhone 3GS, to upgrade to iOS 4, you must proceed with caution. All the hacktivation tools available in the market doesn’t support newer bootrom iPhone 3GS. How to identify bootrom of your iPhone 3GS ?
1. Go to setting -> General -> About
2. Check your serial number and model number
If Model begin with MC, you have iPhone 3GS with new bootrom
Checkout 4th and 5th digit of serial number, if this value is lower than 40 then you have old bootrom.

Apple has released iOS 4.0 for the iPhone and iPod touch via iTunes. iOS 4 has more than 100 new features as discussed in earlier post.
If you need jailbroken and unlocked iOS 4 on your iPhone, you must wait little while until we post a tutorial for safely updating to iOS 4. Main features included in iOS 4 are listed below
Cloud Browse is a service that provide a full desktop browser for iPod Touch, iPhones and iPad, including Flash and Java support.
Browse any website using Firefox.
Play video or games using Flash and Java plugins.
No need to download any flash plugin.
Browse in complete security and privacy.
How does Cloud Browse work?
Cloud Browse runs a remote firefox browser and streams data to iPhone, iPod and iPad. The remote browser have access to higher bandwidth, more memory and faster processor than that of any mobile device. This saves power at mobile device.
The redsn0w beta has been updated for 4.0GM on iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G (non-MC version). Multitasking and homescreen wallpaper are turned on by default (Apple doesn’t normally allow this on these 2 devices). You can deselect these features if you choose.
A version for Windows is now provided.
Just like our other betas, this one intentionally doesn’t “hacktivate” the iPhone. Please wait for Apple’s public release of 4.0 for that part of it.
YOU SHOULD STAY CLEAR OF THIS BETA SOFTWARE IF YOU RELY ON A CARRIER UNLOCK. That’s because the beta redsn0w works only if your device has already been upgraded to the stock 4.0beta1/beta4/GM IPSW from Apple, which contains a baseband update. If you installed that IPSW, you’ve already lost the carrier unlock until the next planned release of ultrasn0w and blacksn0w.
